Description
Many professionals use AI through trial and error, starting with a broad request, receiving an inconsistent result, and struggling to replicate what worked. This session introduces a more structured approach. You’ll learn practical prompting techniques and frameworks to provide the right context, apply prompts across a range of professional tasks, and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for accuracy, relevance, completeness, and potential gaps before using them.
Examples are grounded in real-world accounting and finance scenarios, including client communications, management letters, variance write-ups, and board reporting, making the techniques directly applicable to the work of CPAs and finance professionals.
The session is tool-agnostic, with techniques that can be applied across platforms such as ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Claude. This allows you to take what you learn and apply it using the AI tools available to you and your organization.
Prerequisites: No prior AI experience needed.
Technology Requirements: Access to ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot, or Claude, free-tier access is sufficient. No paid subscription required.
Topics Include:
- Why Guesswork Prompting Fails See how the same request, asked in different ways, can produce very different results.
- Frame the Ask Build the core skill of turning a vague request into a structured, context-rich prompt.
- Judge What Comes Back Learn to evaluate AI-generated responses, particularly when working with numbers and client-facing content.
- Build Your Prompt Library Create reusable prompts for accounting and finance tasks that can be applied beyond the session.
Note: Registration for this seminar closes December 16, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. (EDT).
