Description
Participants will apply CSQM 1 in a hands‑on workshop to identify quality objectives, assess quality risks, and design tailored responses for non‑assurance practices. Participants will also begin documenting elements of the system of quality management (SOQM), including practical approaches to monitoring and remediation.
Topics include:
- CSQM 1 components and leadership roles/responsibilities.
- Understanding firm nature and engagement mix; identifying and assessing quality risks.
- Designing responses, including sample responses and documentation approaches.
- Engagement‑level quality management touchpoints (e.g., CSRS 4200 for compilations).
- Monitoring and remediation: nature, extent, and timing of activities; deficiency assessment and root‑cause analysis; remedial action planning.
- Who can perform monitoring; linking results to the annual SOQM evaluation; documentation expectations.

Francis (Frank) Seguin, CPA, CA, has over 25 years’ experience providing training, lecturing, assurance and advisory services to clients based in Ontario, throughout Canada and internationally, with a focus on the broader public sector and not-for-profit organizations. He has worked in professional services’ firm for over 20 years as well as in industry, and currently lectures for CPA Ontario and CPA Quebec; he has also lectured on a part-time basis at the bachelors’ and graduate levels in the Université du Québec en Outaouais and the University of Ottawa.
