Description
Anthropic recently released ten finance agent templates for Claude. This two-hour live session shows CPAs how the finance skills inside those templates work, where they fit responsibly in accounting and advisory workflows, and where professional judgment must stay in control. Through live demonstrations on real CPA tasks, participants leave able to evaluate, run, and govern these skills, not just describe them. The session serves both CPAs in industry and small to mid-firms. The three skills outlined below are the most relevant to CPAs among the current ten templates in Anthropic's finance release. The templates are free and open source under the Apache 2.0 license. However, running them requires a paid Claude plan, as they are not available on the free tier. The complete agent experience is available through Cowork.
| Finance Skill | What It Does |
|---|---|
|
Month-end Closer |
Drives the close checklist, surfaces open items, and drafts entries for the CPA to review. |
|
General Ledger Reconciler |
Matches balances across sources and flags differences, with the CPA confirming each resolution. |
|
Statement Review Support |
Checks statements for consistency and disclosure gaps. A drafting and review aid, not an assurance engagement. |
Each template packages a skill (task instructions and domain conventions), connectors (governed data access), and subagents (focused checks such as methodology review). Outputs always require CPA review before anything is filed or sent.
Key Takeaways
- Practice a finance skill on a real task like a month-end close checklist or general ledger reconciliation, and evaluate the output with a critical lens.
- Assess strengths and limitations of the skill, including identifying plausible but incorrect reconciling items or journal entries.
- Apply proper controls such as read-only data access, human review and sign-off, and maintaining an audit log for each run.
- Develop a reusable prompt and governance checklist to implement the skill safely in your own work.
