One out of two Canadians will experience or have someone close to them experience a mental health issue in their lifetimes. Many CPA’s are in jobs that are high-paced and pressure packed. It can be difficult for CPAs to recognize their warning signs that their mental health is deteriorating. As CPAs many of us have the grit to overcome our challenges. Supporting one another as we experience mental health events is built on trust and the foundational leadership skills we all have as CPAs.
The module instructor will also share his own story of experiencing a mental illness, the causes, and his ultimate lesson that sometimes, facing adversity with your mental health can be exactly what you need to make the changes required to live a more aligned, energizing and fulfilling life.

Through his recovery journey, he became a passionate mental health advocate and founded Bipolar Empath to share his story and insights on mental health challenges in the workplace. Alongside his advocacy, Shak runs an independent accounting advisory practice, assisting clients with complex accounting issues, financial reporting, and M&A accounting needs.
