Description
This bundle includes seven online courses:
1. Understand Critical Thinking in the Tech Age
It can be tempting to jump to conclusions too quickly, and with the current overabundance of information, we can find ourselves going in circles about particular problems. This course is about navigating complex issues by applying critical thinking. You will learn how to use reasoning and evidence, and how to apply it to technology and to avoid becoming overwhelmed. The course also covers the limitations of artificial intelligence (AI) and where humans can outperform machines.
2. Set a Foundation for Critical Thinking
If you rely on instinct and have a fixed mindset when solving problems, this course will help you consider alternative approaches to reach your conclusions. Learn how to admit to doubt, strategically reframe questions and separate fact from emotion. Look at key strategies to approach a problem in a sounder way, so you are not influenced by emotions or fear of the unknown. You may end up with more creative, profitable and logical solutions as you develop your critical thinking skills.
3. Strengthen Your Arguments Through Reasoning
To make a solid argument that will convince other critical thinkers of your idea, you need to understand quality reasoning and ensure you're starting from true premises. This course offers strategies to make sure your arguments are solid from start to finish, and how to engage others to make them even stronger. Learn the qualities of a convincing argument and how to identify assumptions that could derail reasoning.
4. Spot Holes in Reasoning
Bad arguments come in many forms and are unfortunately quite common. Attacking a person instead of an idea, changing the meaning of a term mid-argument, or using logic that goes in circles is faulty reasoning. Chances are you've done this yourself without noticing. But being attuned to what faulty reasoning is and some of its common forms can help you avoid it in the future. This course will give you that awareness to spot flaws in arguments, and employ better reasoning.
5. Take an Open Approach to Others' Arguments
There is a tendency in our present culture to shut others down, argue loudly, and be unwilling to consider points of view that differ from our own. This course addresses these concepts using the "principle of charity", that allow us to understand others in their best possible light, and makes our own arguments stronger. Examine how to use the idea in conflict resolution, improve innovation within an organization, and the advantages of being open to others' arguments.
6. Express Ideas Persuasively
The art of persuasion helps us to connect our ideas with other people, and this means also harnessing emotion and understanding how others think. This course helps us to understand the elements of persuasion and how to craft persuasive writing. Learn how to use story, credentials, emotion and clarity to connect with others and convince your audiences.
7. Manage Your Time and Attention for Clearer Thinking
There are some counterintuitive techniques that can help you find more time to get things done, achieve more and perform at a higher level within a given time frame. This course will help you use time itself as a filter and take a new approach to multitasking. You will break down strategic techniques and learn how to apply them to your work and life. Learn how to prioritize, use your time wisely, eliminate distractions and attain greater focus.
