In this Age of AI, CPAs face a rapidly changing and disruptive work environment. This course discusses how to use our ethical compass and relates ethical business practices to the core purpose of our profession. It presents a framework for dealing with challenging ethical dilemmas. The objective is to reduce the risk of unethical behaviour by taking steps that lead to improved performance of the member’s organization.
We discuss four types of ethical dilemmas CPAs face:
- Misstating financial information - misleading others.
- Hiding information from auditors or regulators.
- Failing to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of information.
- Allowing an employer or client to influence our professional judgment.
