Description
Gain a practical foundation in AI for anomaly detection across audit, accounting, and finance. We cover supervised vs. unsupervised learning (and ensemble AI), how anomalies are found with rules, statistics, and ML and high-impact use cases such as planning analytics, management override, fraud detection, revenue management and payables optimization. We address trust, integrity, explainability, data quality, and documentation within standards, then conclude with a brief demo of risk scoring and AI augmented investigation.
Key Takeaways
Upon completion of this course, you will know:
- Different AI types (supervised, unsupervised) and why ensembles boost detection quality in finance data.
- How anomaly detection works: rules, statistics, and ML control points (e.g., rare flows, unusual amounts, manual entries).
- What the standards allow: ADA scoring models and concurrent procedures (SAS 142), spectrum of inherent risk (SAS 145/ISA 315).
- Practical audit use cases with measurable impact: planning analytics, journal entry testing, revenue, PPE, and related parties.
- Calibrating inherent risk with risk scores; moving to risk-based sampling to reduce residual risk and sample sizes.
- Trust & integrity: data completeness checks, documentation, ISQM/SQMS vendor oversight, AI/algorithm assurance.
Who Will Benefit
External and internal auditors, controllers, and finance leaders with some audit/analytics literacy who want to apply AI to risk assessment, sampling, and substantive work.
No coding required (Beginner–Intermediate).
