Description
The role of being an executor comes with several responsibilities and challenges. The list is quite lengthy, but this course will touch on a number of areas as time permits, legal complexity, emotional stress, timing, communication challenges, asset valuation, Record keeping, CRA, and personal liability.
This session will be delivered in a webinar format and will cover:
- The role, duties, and risks of being an executor. The primary role of the executor as we know is to execute the wishes of the departed individual as per their will. Executing the wishes while meeting government and legal expectations comes with a number of issues i.e., banking, family. This session will touch on steps required to meet those obligations in an orderly fashion, whilst communicating effectively with the beneficiaries.
- What is a Power of Attorney? What are different types and what specifically do they grant the individual to do?
- What happens if there is no will? What are the general principles involved if there is no will?
