This program, created by CPA Ontario in partnership with renowned industry experts, will equip you with the knowledge and skills to master digital technologies and governance in the age of AI. You will learn about the fundamental concepts, principles, and applications of 14 generative AI including ChatGPT, and 6 digital technologies, such as blockchain and cloud computing. You will also explore the various approaches and best practices for governing AI and data, such as regulation, standards, codes of conduct, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
The program equips CPAs with the relevant skills to adapt to the evolving financial landscape, leveraging automation, detecting anomalies, optimizing efficiency, and ensuring ethical and compliant use of AI in financial decision-making. Having a better understanding of how new and emerging technologies could be applied to enhance systems and controls and embracing digital comptrollership functions, CPAs can contribute to organizations' progress towards digital transformation, from developing strategies to enhancing trust with automated processes and outputs.

Michel Girard is a senior fellow at CIGI, where he contributes expertise in the area of standards for big data and artificial intelligence (AI). His research strives to drive dialogue on what standards are, why they matter in these emerging sectors of the economy, and how to incorporate them into regulatory and procurement frameworks. He highlights issues that should be examined in the design of new technical standards governing big data and AI in order to spur innovation while also respecting privacy, security and ethical considerations. |

She is currently the Executive Director of a boutique law firm that provides labour, employment and human rights legal services to the community. Aileen has a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University in Halifax and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Kingston. She is a doctoral student at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Constantine Karbaliotis is counsel at nNovation LLP, a boutique privacy law firm in Canada. Constantine has twenty years’ experience in privacy, on both domestic and international levels. Constantine has acted as privacy officer and leader for two multinational organizations, where he managed the company’s internal compliance and the development and implementation of privacy programs, dealing with diverse areas of international privacy and data protection. | |

Michael Lionais recently retired from the public service after 35 years of combined military and civil service. His last position in the public service was Director General, Cost Estimating and Transfer Payments Centres of Expertise. While in this position, he was seconded to CPA Canada where he worked on the Foresight Initiative. This initiative focused on reimaging the accounting profession in the digital economy. Michael has also taught at the Master’s level for the Sprott School of Business and the Telfer Certificate in Complex Procurement and Project Leadership. He has received several awards for his work in predictive modeling. Michael is currently the Managing Director, Technomics Canada, a decision support company focused on developing data-driven insights to support decision-making. | |
Narbe Alexandrian, CPA, CA, is the Founder and CEO of Define Capital, a private equity vehicle in the software space. He has worked as a venture capitalist, strategy manager and has developed operational and go-to-market strategies for a number of SaaS companies. Narbe began his career at Deloitte, within the Corporate Strategy and M&A Advisory groups and has taught courses in technology entrepreneurship and accounting at the Schulich School of Business and Rotman Commerce. | |
