Description
Emotional intelligence is a suite of skills relating to self-awareness, self-regulation, connection to and interaction with others, decision-making and stress management. It is a major determinant of our well-being and our success in life. This course uses findings from neuroscience research so participants can understand how their brain works and leverage this knowledge to improve our emotional intelligence.
Participants have the opportunity to take an online emotional intelligence self-assessment and participate in a brief one-on-one coaching session with a certified coach.
This course is offered in collaboration with Western University.

- Participate in at least 3 of the 4 weekly real-time sessions on Zoom.
- Participate in graded forums (online discussions) in at least 3 out of 4 weeks, posting during that week.
- Complete at least 3 out of 4 of the weekly assignments.
- Complete all 4 of the short weekly quizzes.
- Participate in a 25 minute one-on-one coaching session.

Janine Higgins, B.A., LL.B., has been in private practice since 1993. Her mediation practice includes a wide variety of issues, both legal and non-legal including family, insurance, estate and business law as well as workplace and organizational conflicts. Her facilitation work overlaps with mediation since it often involves resolving conflicts within large and small groups. In this area, most of her clients are in the public and non-profit sectors, e.g. hospitals, mental health organizations, public health, agriculture, charitable organizations, and professional organizations. She has facilitated and mediated in a variety of circumstances, from half day workshops to multi-session task forces. In addition, she has also been retained as a neutral fact-finder on numerous occasions.
