Description
People are living twenty or more years after they retire; as a result, Boomers have reinvented the retirement concept. Retirement is no longer a destination for Boomers. Few people develop thoughtful retirement "lifestyle plans" before they retire. Research has shown that developing lifestyle plans, along with financial plans, BEFORE retirement, results in a more fulfilled retirement and a more comprehensive financial plan.
Based on advice from 100 retired people, from all walks of life, including people like Paul Martin, Anna Porter, Ken Dryden, Alvin Curling, and Liona Boyd, this Workshop will teach participants how to use a simple "Retirement Lifestyle Planning Framework". Participants will learn why it is important to make lifestyle changes while still working, to enhance their retirement.
Topics Include:
- Overview of how Baby Boomers have changed the "retirement" process including the new term "Protirement".
- Explain linkages between financial planning and lifestyle planning, resulting in a comprehensive "Protirement Plan".
- Discuss the basics of the 3-Stage Protirement Change Processincluding: adjusting to the Retirement Stage; surviving the Transition Zone; and developing a thriving healthy Protirement lifestyle.
- Review advice, given by 100 interviewees, related to preparing for retirement while still working.
- Explore the Protirement Checkerboard's 17 Protirement activities including 4 work-related activities.
- Discuss how the Protirement "Lifestyle Planning" process can be used with clients.
